In the Alnwick Castle day trip tour, you will travel south, along the East Coast to the Scotland/England border and into Northumberland. The first stop is to visit the famous castle in Alnwick, built after the Norman conquest in the 11th century.
The group will have the opportunity to explore the grounds and areas of the castle in small groups before meeting to have lunch together and enjoy some of the traditional medieval performances. The group will then take part in a broomstick training session – the castle was popularised by its use in the first Harry Potter film for this purpose.
The trip will continue by coach to Bamburgh, voted 'Best seaside destination in the UK' for 5 years in a row. Its impressive Castle is built on an extinct Volcano and is one of the most important Anglo-Saxon sites in the world. Its impressive scenery has also been used as a filming location for Macbeth, The Last Kingdom & Indiana Jones. In Arthurian legend, it was also the stronghold of King Lancelot
You will have a short stop here to relax on the beach and enjoy the views. If you're brave enough, you can test the temperatures of the North Sea and have a swim. A group photo will be taken to remember the day before taking the coach back to Edinburgh.
