In the Alnwick Castle day trip tour, you will travel south, along the East Coast to the Scotland/England border and into Northumberland. The first stop is to visit the famous castle in Alnwick, built after the Norman conquest in the 11th century.
The group will have the opportunity to explore the grounds and areas of the castle in small groups before meeting to have lunch together and enjoy some of the traditional medieval performances. The group will then take part in a broomstick training session – the castle was popularised by its use in the first Harry Potter film for this purpose.
The trip will continue by coach to the beaches and castle of Bamburgh, another famous and beautiful site. Here the students have the chance to test the temperatures of the North Sea, look for native wildlife in rockpools, play along the beach and enjoy the view of the impressive castle above. A group photo will be taken to remember the day before taking the coach back to Edinburgh.
