Come and enjoy a fun and relaxing trip to Portobello Beach with the Centre of English Studies Edinburgh!
Portobello is a beautiful beach area just 20 minutes from the city centre by bus. It has a long, sandy beach and a lovely promenade (walking path) next to the sea. In the past, Portobello was a popular holiday place. In the 1800s, many people came here to swim and relax by the sea. Even King George IV visited the beach in 1822!
Today, Portobello is still a favourite place for locals and visitors. On this trip, you can:
Walk along the promenade and enjoy the sea views
Play games like frisbee or football on the sand
Try water sports or visit the arcade
Visit the Portobello Swim Centre with its warm Turkish baths
Buy an ice cream, fish and chips, or pizza from one of the local cafés
Take photos of the sea, the beach, and the old buildings nearby
You will also learn some fun facts about Portobello’s history, like the story of the old pier and the famous pottery that was made here.
This is a great way to practise your English, meet new people, and enjoy Scottish seaside life. Don’t forget your camera – and maybe a towel!
